Take Control of Your Menopausal Symptoms by
Using the HRT Questionnaire for a
Better Discussion with Your Doctor
Do you feel too rushed at the doctor's office to get the information you need? One-third of patients leave a physician's office without getting important questions answered. Don't let yourself be among them. By using the HRT Questionnaire, you'll not only provide your doctor with necessary information, you'll also get the questions you'll need to find out if hormone replacement therapy is the right choice for you.
After experiencing the symptoms of menopause or perimenopause, including hot flashes, incontinence, vaginal dryness or others, you may have thought about hormone replacement therapy and even researched it. But research on the Internet or elsewhere will only give you general, and in many cases inaccurate, information.
That's why we're encouraging better communication with your doctor. Finding out how HRT will help your specific case is best done by speaking to your doctor and the HRT Questionnaire makes this easier. It will ask you specific questions about your health, resulting in a customized printout of your medical history, health risks and symptoms, as well as questions based on your profile. Taking this to your doctor will lead to a more informed discussion about your personal options.
Backed by a clinical study
The HRT Questionnaire isn't a marketing survey, but a health care tool backed by a clinical trial at the Medical College of Wisconsin and sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Aging. See below for positive reactions from women and health care providers who participated in the trial.
What patients said about the HRT Questionnaire:
- 93% said the questionnaire printout they took to their doctor was helpful in discussing hormone replacement therapy
- 71% said their health care provider had a positive response to the printout
- 86% said it helped them make a decision about HRT
What doctors and medical professionals said:
- 87% would recommend the TTYD website and printout to their patients
- 82% indicated the questions generated were appropriate
- There was significantly better communication with patients who used the HRT questionnaire
Who should use the HRT questionnaire?
You should complete the questionnaire if you are considering, currently taking, or have previously taken hormones because:
- you are experiencing symptoms of menopause or are perimenopausal
- you have had both ovaries removed
This questionnaire won't apply to you if you are taking hormones for other reasons
Your next step
Because of its intelligent design, the questionnaire generates personalized questions based on your answers. The length of time required depends on your health profile, but we estimate a 10-minute timeframe for a person with little or no risk factors and 15 to 20 minutes for others.
